I just installed Vista Business on my PC and I am dual booting Windows XP Pro and Fedora Core 7 (not seen by bootloader). My DVD-ROM Drive is a Pioneer DVD-RW DVR-212D and what happened after I installed vista was that vista couldn’t see it (nowhere to be found in the device manager) so I rebooted to XP and updated the firmware to the latest version got the message that it was updated and rebooted to Vista. Vista was then able to see it so I installed the latest drivers for it and now what happens is whenever i reboot my computer to the other OS the drive becomes undetected and not seen in the device manager. And for some reason I think it may be because there’s no disc in the drive ? (It seems to be detected whenever I boot with a disc in it and not without a disc). Any help or suggestions anyone could offer would be great thanks !

I am trying to uninstall the Nvidia beta drivers but when I try to do it my screen goes black and the computer is at a stand still. The computer doesn’t reboot and there is activity on the hard drive. I thought it was just moving along slowly, but it just sat there. I even tried to let it go over night unstalling the drivers but it still didn’t work. Any ideas on how I can remove the drivers from my computer and revert back the the WHQL supported Vista Drivers from Nvidia 162 drivers.

I am uninstalling the drivers by going to the device manager.

I know in the past I have used CCleaner to uninstall drivers and also used the add/remove programs section under the control panel in Windows XP, but for some reason I don’t see in Vista where there is a selection from uninstalling programs.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

i’ve an external HDD with 250Gb. How do I reformat it? I’m using Vista. And, it doesn’t seem to allow me to reformat for WD External HDD to FAT32 250GB.

CPU Cooler=Glacial Tech Igloo 5073 Silent 1700RPM Max. (nice and cheap 92mm fan)
MB=Gigabyte GA-P35C-DS3R
RAM=2×1GB Kingston DDR2-800MHz CL5
GPU=Gigabyte GeForce 8400GS

CPU temperatures:

Stock 2.33GHz:
Idle=29 degrees
Load (100%)=59-60

Overclocked 2.975GHz(7×425MHz@1.2V/1.3V):
Idle=39-41
Load (100%)=60-61

I’m particularly worried about the load temperatures.
Are they not too high?
And what about idle @ 40 - is that OK?

Can my CPU live a long and joyful life at these temperatures?

80gb HDD
geforce 6200 PCI gfx card

I was wondering why my windows experience score for graphics are:

2.4 graphics
2.6 gaming graphics

I thought they should be better than that, is there a driver i can download to optimize my score?

If not, can anyone recommend a PCI card that will get the score higher than 4?

Or can anyone recommend a motherboard and gfz card compatible with my pentium 4 processor.

I just bought Vista Home Premium today and installed it. I have a Dell XPS system with appx 500gb across three different hdd’s. I installed Vista on HDD0. I keep game installs and various others on HDD1 and I have a linux distro on HDD2. After installing vista I cannoth find HDD1 and HDD2. Any of you who have delt with or run across this problem some help would be appriciated. Thanks!

I recorded my lectures into .mp3 format. Now, I want a software which can transcribe the lectures I recorded automatically into written text. So, I don’t have to type it out manually. Is this possible?

Ok i have successfully installed Virtual PC 07 (Window xp) my OS is Window Vista. My question is do i need to install driver?
cause in virtual pc i can’t find my wireless card, i can’t online…

I have XP and Vista setup for a dual boot right now on my HDD. I installed XP first, than Vista. I want to reinstall XP on the partition it is on now. If I do that, will I still be able to boot into Vista, or will I be screwed?

My girlfriend has just purchased an Advent 8115 laptop, its a good quality machine for its price and runs Vista Premium.

It has according to Device Manager a RT73 USB Wireless Card, the wireless card is in fact internal and not USB dongle but we cant seem to connect to my Belkin G+ Mimo router, Its showing a full 5 bar signal but still wont connect. I also have and Macbook and another older Advent laptop running XPSP2 Media Centre Edition which all have no problem’s connecting.

I hope that this is simply a software issue with compatibility with Vista. Has anyone got any idea’s how to try to solve this annoying problem?
