Please help, Vista, graphics card, CRT funky

I built a new computer, but I?m having trouble with getting Vista to work with the graphics card and monitor.

Here?s my components:

EVGA 256-P2-N751-TR GeForce 8600GT 256MB 128-bit GDDR3 PCI Express x16 SLI Supported Video Card

Intel Core 2 Duo E6750 Conroe 2.66GHz LGA 775 Processor Model BX80557E6750 - Retail

GIGABYTE GA-P35-DS3L LGA 775 Intel P35 ATX Intel Motherboard - Retail

I?m trying to get them to work with Vista Home Premium OEM and an old ViewSonic E70 CRT monitor.

I get Vista working, but with apparently minimal graphics. There?s little red lines and dots in places, sometimes all over in a ghosting effect. The computer appears to recognize the graphics card, but Vista gives it a bottom #1 compatability score. I tried to upgrade drivers for the graphics card and monitor, but the problem continues. When I run the Vista performance test, the screen flashes once and then the performance test appears to freeze up.
Any suggestions please?
:)

SD card readers

I upgraded my PC and laptop to Vista. Only recently did I notice that the built in card readers (SD, MS Pro, etc.) do not respond. When the cards are inserted, the computers actually freeze up. I also tried an external card read with the same results. If my camera is connected via USB, then i am able to download files from the SD card. I couldn’t find a location that may have drivers for Vista. Everything I found was for XP.:(

CPU Overclocking

I have a Sager NP5790 with the following specs:
Intel(R) Core(TM)2 Duo CPU T7300 @ 2.00GHz w/4MB L2 On-die cache - 800FSB
3070MB RAM
Seagate Momentus Hard Drive 160 GB (7200rpm)
GeForce Go 7950GTX
Windows XP Pro 32-bit
Antec Notebook Cooler

I read an article today about CPU overclocking and they said when done correctly it can easily gives you 30-50% performance increase.
Since I have absolutely no experience in cpu stuff (I only overclock my gpu using Riva Tuner), anyone here knows any method (which program to use or how to overclock) and if it is worth doing? Thanks. :)

does FSB needs to match?

I’m a new computer builder and I was wondering if anyone could tell me that if it is necessary to get a motherboard and CPU with the same FSB. I have an ASUS P5NSLI motherboard with a FSB of 1066 and I was planning on getting an Intel Core 2 Duo 2.66 GHZ CPU with a FSB of 1333. Is this ok or do i need to get a different processor?

Posting but NOT Booting

It’s a Aopen PIII mainboard which when powered up POSTs ok but the screen goes blank immediately after that. Thinking it could be memory, bios config, or other peripherals, I’ve repeatedly tried clearing the CMOS, disconnecting extra hardware [vista hardware]mod.info/category/vistamods/>[hardware mods], and memory. The board ‘knows’ when RAM is absent and when not. I’m still not convinced the board is bad and needs replacement. Is there something I can do I revive the system without replacing the board, of course?

“Slipstream” files into Vista installation CD

I don’t actually have the actual Vista installation CD, but a recovery cd provided with the laptop (Dell). I have a bunch of programs and installation files that want to be pre-installed the moment I install Vista. How do I do this?

Icon Pictures Missing

Something very strange is going on with my laptop. Everything was perfectly fine earlier today. But when I came home and powered up my laptop, 90% of the pictures for my icons are missing, as you can see here:

If anyone might happen to know why and how I can fix it, I’d be very grateful.

Vista + MicroSD card

Hello there.

Friday last week I bought a R4 device to my Nintendo DS. With it I get a USB Reader, which I use together with my Kingston 2GB MicroSD card. Directly when I got it I plugged it in to test it out, but the only thing that happend was a popup saying that I needed drivers.

I gave it to my brother who uses XP, and it worked like a charm just out of the box. I started to search around for anything close to a fix, and the only thing I found was this.

http://support.microsoft.com/kb/939772/en-us

I implemented the fix, restarted, but nothing happends. It just does the same thing, which annoys me extremely much. I had this idea to use the card in my SE phone, before I realised that I can’t use the USB-cabe I got with my phone, since that doesn’t work either.

If there is no fix at all, the only thing I can do to transfer files from my computer to my SD card is to borrow another computer, or to install a different OS.

Strange DVD-ROM Drive Error

I just installed Vista Business on my PC and I am dual booting Windows XP Pro and Fedora Core 7 (not seen by bootloader). My DVD-ROM Drive is a Pioneer DVD-RW DVR-212D and what happened after I installed vista was that vista couldn’t see it (nowhere to be found in the device manager) so I rebooted to XP and updated the firmware to the latest version got the message that it was updated and rebooted to Vista. Vista was then able to see it so I installed the latest drivers for it and now what happens is whenever i reboot my computer to the other OS the drive becomes undetected and not seen in the device manager. And for some reason I think it may be because there’s no disc in the drive ? (It seems to be detected whenever I boot with a disc in it and not without a disc). Any help or suggestions anyone could offer would be great thanks !
