If I have a video stream (e.g. YouTube, Yahoo, etc.) open in a browser my Thinkpad often freezes so I can’t switch to another program or do anything besides wait.

Sometimes I can get enough control to launch another window but then often the stream get stuck like a vinyl record (how many people don’t know what I am talking about LOL) where the same five seconds of audio are played over and over and over for anywhere between 1-2 minutes.

Is this normal for Windows XP Professional?

I have a Thinkpad T42, 1 GB RAM, ATI Mobility Radeon 7500 with 32MB RAM, all the latest updates to the machine and Windows XP.
